August 2010: Informative, colourful, vibrant - completed in record time!

One of our most interesting recent projects  - and one completed in record time! - has been for the National Trust at Stourhead.

We were asked in July 2010 to create a special exhibition for this world-famous landscape garden, which was created in the 1740s.

The ten large story panels we wrote and designed were to be installed around the garden and lake. They had to be colourful and vibrant, and to follow the new National Trust branding.

The theme of the panels was ‘Art in the Garden’, and our brief was to link the garden with the artists who inspired its creator, Henry Hoare, and with the artists who have been inspired by the garden ever since. We were asked to ‘layer’ the information on the panels, and we achieved this by making Henry talk to visitors directly. His imagined words tell them the essentials in an easy-to-absorb conversational style; the panel designs skilfully lead the reader to colourful boxes which convey more complex detail and information.

Speed was vital in this project, and we achieved the brief from concept to installation in just four weeks. The initial reaction has been highly positive.

With our unbeatable combination of skills in research, writing and design, we are well equipped to create innovative and exciting interpretation projects for museums, galleries, and arts and heritage organisations.
